In October 2023 the Christo and Jean-Claude Center for Contemporary Art in Gabrovo opened its doors to the general public with a three-day program including exhibitions, installations, workshops, film screenings, parties and meetings with artists working in the Center. During the event visitors could see once again the two exhibitions Christo and Jean-Claude. Projects and Born in Gabrovo first realized in the Museum of Humor and Satire in 2017.
The concept design of the exhibitions in the Center is limited to minimal interventions such as construction of exhibition walls and management of the direct light in the ex-factory spaces. This is achieved through partially closed partition walls from plasterboard as well as large-format pieces of paper used as window shades. The new pure white walls aim to create a contrast with the existing architecture which bears valuable historical context.
